Makerspace Furniture System Launch
We are very pleased to see the launch recently of our Makerspace Furniture System designed for SG Education. We began working on the system late last year and it’s now available to buy under the brand SG Makerspace. The range aims to solve all the storage and display requirements of this developing area within schools, colleges, offices or indeed any workshop space. Rather than import expensive products from elsewhere, SG took the approach of getting the system designed and made in Ireland and we’re very happy to see the first production run currently being produced. We’ll hopefully share some images with you very soon.
The concept is based on our slotted pegboard system developed a few years ago and comprises a collection of functional parts that slot onto this board. Both wall mounted and free standing pegboards, either with castors or fixed legs are available in a range of sizes. All the Makerspace equipment such as laser cutters, 3D printers, vinyl cutters, electronics, robotics, extractors etc can be housed in specifically designed fixed or mobile storage units available with Irish made recycled plastic worktops. Any consumables such as sheeting or filament each have considered storage, small parts can be stored in parts bins or standard Gratnell’s trays with all hand tools housed on toolbars or wooden trays. These call all be moved around from wall to mobile units as needed. Also, if users need a specific part to house a tool they can use the laser cutter or 3D printer to create it and slot onto the pegboard preventing any future obsolescence. Each mobile unit can house everything associated with a particular machine and is sized so that it can fit through standard doors with a single cable plug in making it really easy and quick to roll into a classroom and set up.
Stay tuned for news on projects using this exciting new system.
