‘Futurescapes’ exhibition at the Leitrim Sculpture Centre
Since my assignment to a residency at the Leitrim Sculpture Centre last year I have been compiling work and researching towards an eventual show at the centre in May. The residency is progressing very well with 6 weeks spent at the studio building and a further period now at the centre itself where I am beginning to put together some of the sculptures.
The exhibition will seek to explore the idea of connectable structures and their potential to inhabit the spaces we live and work in – the creation of a new visual landscape. The work is process driven – sketches and drawings developed into models and in turn full size art works in a variety of materials. I have been looking at CNC and laser production to enable part production of components that can be assembled with simple fittings. By adding certain usable features the artworks will engage the viewer in their creation and subsequent use of spaces they live and work in. Full size works in cardboard, wood, and plastic will be accompanied by drawings and photos with a audio visual presentation and model area
‘Futurescapes’ launches at 6pm, Friday the 20th May and runs for 3 weeks until June 10th.
