Codema and Dublin City Council have just launched their new virtual gallery, which was created by Visit it Virtually. It presents the submissions for the Imagine Energy competition, which was a two-phase project to design and install a smart energy feature in Dublin city centre. The competition was run under the European project Ace for Energy, which promotes  the importance of renewable energy in everyday life to citizens, businesses, universities and local government.

The studio worked with colleague David Spence to create our entry entitled Energy Plant.
The energy plant is conceived as a self-contained information kiosk that provides phone and tablet recharging and data link points. All energy is derived from six photovoltaic leaf panels and a vertical axis wind turbine. These feed into storage batteries and a control unit with overcharge dissipation.  The primary elements of the kiosk are three computer monitors that provide specific information regarding various aspects of alternative energy.  The virtual aspects will cover the technologies being used by the structure in a fun and educational way and how the energy is being generated, stored and used.
