‘Ring’ is a 10 metre high sculpture hanging in a 12 storey atrium for the Quinn group in Blanchardstown, Dublin. This complex installation involved the suspension of the structure through the atrium of the building whilst allowing it to be lowered for cleaning. Other requirements included creating a structure that would not block light entering the offices and also one with reduced weight. The structure is illuminated by a colour changing light system by Erco lighting, providing a dramatic focal point on entering the building and from the main carriageway entering the city. The structure was built from the top down by assembling 10 rings and connecting to the suspension system. This was then winched up and the next 10 rings added, eventually creating a large piece. A system like this allowed for a large sculpture to be built on site efficently to a strict schedule
